A woman is in critical condition and a man is in custody following a snowmobile crash early Sunday morning.
Deputies from the Chisago County Sheriff’s Office were called to the area of Rush Point Dr and Fairfield Ave in Rush City following a report they received of a woman who had suffered a head injury after falling from a snowmobile.
The victim was being transported to the hospital by a private vehicle.
Upon arrival, deputies learned that the actual incident occurred on East Rush Lake.
The driver of the machine has been identified as 22-year-old Travis Dane Vanelsberg of North Branch. The victim was identified as the passenger.
An investigation by authorities revealed that snowmobile struck a vehicle that was parked on the lake.
Neither of the riders was wearing helmets.
Vanelsberg was booked for DWI and Criminal Vehicular Operation.
Another woman identified as Grace Marie Olund of North Branch was also arrested related to this incident for Driving While Intoxicated.
The Chisago County Sheriff's Office believes that alcohol was a contributing factor in this collision.
