High School Girls Basketball Update

Let’s take a look at where the local girls basketball teams stand to begin the new year:

Braham 3-6

QRF Ranking 93rd in State 6th in 5A East

The Bombers season started 2-1 but it has not gone their way since. They have lost 5 of their last 6 games. The Bombers will try to get back on track when they host Rush City tonight at 715pm.

Cambridge-Isanti 6-5

QRF Ranking 36th in State 4th in 7AAAA

The Bluejackets have had an up and down season. They won both their games at the Cloquet tournament before losing two games in a row on the road. Tonight they will host a Class AAA team and conference foe Big Lake. Tip off at 715pm.

East Central 6-2

QRF Ranking 32nd in State 1st in 5A

The Eagles have enjoyed a great start to the season. This is the best start to a season since the 07-08 season. The Eagles will look to continue their success tonight, as they play host to an Ogilvie team who hasn’t played a game since December 16th. The teams will hit the court at 715pm tonight.

Hinckley-Finlayson 2-8

QRF Ranking 107th in State 8th in 5A

The Jaguars have not found their groove yet this season. Their two wins have come against a section and conference foe Isle, and a Class AA opponent Mora. The Jaguars have a tough stretch coming up as 5 of their next 7 games are on the road. They will play one of those road games tonight, as they face conference rival Pine City at 715pm.

Mora 2-7

QRF Ranking 110th in State 13th in 6AA

The Mustangs season hasn’t started the way they’ve wanted. But it’s never too late to turn the season around. Mora can start the turnaround tonight as they will go up against conference opponent Milaca. The teams are set to hit the court in Milaca at 715pm.

North Branch 7-3

QRF Ranking 27th in State 3rd in 7AAA

The Vikings couldn’t have started the season any better. They opened up with 7 straight wins. But the Vikings have struggled to find any success since their torid hot start. North Branch has lost three straight games. The Vikings can get themselves back on track tonight, as they travel to Princeton to battle the Tigers at 715pm.

Pine City 7-1

QRF Ranking 30th in State 5th in 6AA

The Dragons won their first 6 games before suffering a loss. The Dragons lone loss came at the Granite City Classic, against a tough Class AAA team in Hutchinson. Pine City would then go on to defeat Annandale in the Granite City Classic. The Dragons look to continue to build on this successful season as they host the Jaguars of Hinckley-Finlayson tonight. Tip off at 715pm.

Rush City 1-6

QRF Ranking 112th in State 14th in 6AA

The Tigers won their opening game of the season in overtime against Hinckley-Finlayson. But that has been their only victory so far. The Tigers have struggled to score 30 points in a game. They have only scored over 30 in one game, which has been their lone win. The Tigers will be in Braham tonight to battle the Bombers. A win over a rival might be just what the Tigers need to turn the season around.
