Jaguars Topple Eagles in Shutout Victory

The Jaguars hosted the Eagles last night, in less than fair conditions. As the teams took the field, the rain started to fall. East Central drove down the field methodically on their first drive. The Hinckley-Finlayson defense was able to come up big, as they forced an interception inside the redzone. The Jaguars first drive on offense was not what they hoped for, as they had three straight negative plays forcing them to punt. This is how much of the first half would go. Neither offense was able to maintain a drive, and the defenses used the rain to their advantage forcing turnovers for their teams. But before the first half ended the Jaguars were able to break loose and score. Lathaniel Kroschel put the first points on the board for the Jags. The Jaguars held onto their slim lead going into halftime up 7-0.

Coming out of halftime Hinckley-Finlayson seemed to have all the momentum. They scored 28 more points while holding the Eagles scoreless. The Jaguars scampered for 3 more rushing touchdowns and Kroschel had a one handed pick six late in the game. Though the Eagles were held scoreless, they certainly looked better than what final score says. They proved their run game is explosive and their pass game can be just as good.

With the win the Jaguars move to 2-0 on the season, and host Rush City next Friday. The Eagles fall to 0-2 on the season, and will host Braham (2-0) next Friday.
