Foley Falls to Albany in Section Semi Final

The Falcons played in Albany on Tuesday night.

The Falcons came in as the 6th seed in section playoffs, but if you seen them at all you know they were much better than that. They had a chance to prove it on the road. Albany was gonna be a tough team to beat, coming in as the reigning section champs.

There was no feeling out in this game both teams came ready to play. In the 1st set both teams came out firing. It was back and forth the entire set, until late when Foley was able to take the lead and finish the set 25-20.

The 2nd set saw Albany gain a little bit of momentum, forcing Foley into some mistakes. The Huskies capitalized on said mistakes and while it wasn't a runaway set, they certainly made it feel as such 25-17. Then came the third set, easily the most fun and hardest fought set these fans have seen all year. But it didn't start that way.

Foley got off to a quick start, taking a 5-0 lead to begin the set. While Albany was able to score, the Falcons just continued to dominate leading by nearly 10 in the set. But as the set wore on, the Huskies slowly started to fight their way back into the game. And sooner than later they had nearly erased their deficit and had Foley reeling. Foley was able to find something to go their way, but even then Albany was still on their heels. Eventually the Falcon lead was erased and the set was tied, not for long as Albany had taken that as well. It felt like anything that Foley had going their way was completely in favor of Albany. But the Falcons showed a ton of fight and even facing set point battled to tie the game. The teams would trade the set point and this lead into extras, with every single dig, set and hit forcing everyone on the gym closer to the edge of their seats. Just when one team looked like they would take set point the other team came back with a highlight reel play to save it and win the point. But the Huskies had the last say winning the set 32-30.

Now into the 4th it was almost all Albany, Foley was still fighting hard but the emotion of the 3rd set had hurt their spirits. The Huskies were able to win the 4th 25-14 and the match 3-1.

Foley's season comes to an end but they will have some young talent returning next year.

Congrats to the seniors and the team on a great year!
