Mille Lacs Extends it's Streak to Five

The Raiders hosted Braham at Onamia HS for senior night.

Before the game started Mille Lacs honored their three seniors, Katie Rocholl, Gabby Perkio, and Shayla Nayquonabe. Once the game started each of the seniors were part of the starting lineup. The Raiders got out to a fast start in the first set, taking control early and not allowing Braham to go on any big scoring runs. They would win the first set convincingly 25-15. The second set did not start how Mille Lacs wanted, as the Bombers quickly jumped out to a 5-1 lead. Later in the set, the Raiders trailed 12-8 but they started to mount a comeback. Ashley Strang would get a strong kill and help her team build a three point lead. The Bombers trailing by three came back quickly and retook the lead, the Raiders would tie the game after a bomber mistake. From that point on it was a back and forth set, until Braham worked their way to a four point lead with set point. The Raiders scored four straight points to push the set into extra points. Braham would eventually win the set 28-26. The third set was back and forth but near the end Braham would hold a 3 point lead and won the set 25-23. The fourth set was dominated by Mille Lacs, they even held a 10 point lead late. With set point it looked like Braham 5was going to mount a comeback. Trailing by 8, Braham rattled off four points. But the Raiders halted their attempt to tie the game and won the set 25-20 to bring it to a fifth and final set. The Bombers jumped out with the lead but the Raiders didn't let that last long as they tied it. Soon Mille Lacs pulled out to a 9-5 lead before Braham called a timeout. The Bombers would get within two of the lead before Mille Lacs pulled away. The Raiders won set five 15-9 and won the match 3-2.

With the win the Raiders have now won 5 straight games after their season opening loss to Aitkin. Mille Lacs will host Spectrum on Thursday at Onamia.

Braham falls to 3-7 on the season, and will host Great River Conference foe Pine City on Thursday.
