Mille Lacs Walleye Ban Extended - 7-25 News


Active Shooter Training Taking Place at Pine City High School

Vital training to protect a local high school will take place in the coming weeks.

The Pine County Sheriff’s Office will be conducting Active Shooter Training Drills July 31st and August 10th at Pine City High School.

The drill gives deputies a chance to become knowledgeable about the school’s layout.

During the drill, the school will be closed from noon til 4 pm on the 31st and 10th.

Mille Lacs Walleye Ban Extended Further

A ban on fishing in the state’s third largest lake was just extended.

The DNR has furthered the ban on Walleye fishing in Mille Lacs Lake in an attempt to protect the Minnesota State Fish, said DNR Fisheries Chief Don Pereira.

Pereira added that the DNR is doing all that’s possible to protect the fishery.

Other species in Lake Mille Lacs are open for fishing with normal regulations.

Kanabec County Fair this Weekend

Fair season has descended on East Central Minnesota, and Kanabec County’s turn is this week.

The Kanabec County Fair runs Wednesday through Saturday with the parade on Saturday.

A scavenger hunt among other events will be available.

Boat Parade in Lindstrom

A free event on the water is this weekend.

The boat parade on south center lake takes place this Sunday starting at 2 pm.

The best decorated boats in the parade will be put into the top three and prizes will be awarded.
