Section 5A
3-Onamia 8-9 (Section 5A 6-6) (4-5 5th Great River) 39.8 61st
Onamia got off to a hot start, going 4-2 in the month of April. They finished the season one game under .500. But don't let that fool you, this team is dangerous. They won their first round playoff matchup against McGregor 4-3. The Panthers will be in Braham tonight.
4-Ogilvie 10-10 (Section 5A 6-4) (5-6 4th-Great River) 39.6 58th
The Lions opened the postseason with a win over Isle 8-5. They'll now play the Jaguars of Hinckley-Finlayson tonight. This comes after going 10-10 in the regular season and 6-4 against Section 5A opponents. Ogilvie went 7-6 in the month of May including wins over section opponents Hill City, McGregor/Cromwell, and East Central. In the first game of the postseason, the fourth seeded Lions will face off against five seed Isle on Tuesday at 5 PM. Ogilvie swept the double header against Isle on April 20th winning 20-12 and 11-2.
Section 6AA
1-Foley 20-0 (Section 6AA 13-0) (14-0 1st-Granite Ridge) 118.1 1st
Foley had the best regular season that a team can have going a perfect 20 for 20. The Falcons enter the playoffs as the only undefeated team remaining in AA. Foley is ranked first in QRF for AA and twelve points over the next team in Rochester Lourdes. In Foley’s 20 wins, they scored 10 or more runs nine times including two times when they scored twenty or more. The Falcons opened their section playoffs with a win over Sauk Centre 13-0. They'll get set to play Eden Valley-Watkins tonight.
18-Milaca 0-21 (Section 6AA 0-10) (0-14 8th-Granite Ridge) 28.8 123rd
Milaca didn’t have the season that they may have hoped for finishing in last place in the Granite Ridge conference. Milaca’s season came to an end on Monday after a loss to Holdingford in a Section 6AA play-in style game by a score of 11-1.
Section 7AA
11-Mora 6-13 (Section 7AA 3-4) (3-9 7th-Granite Ridge) 46.7 83rd
After a rough start to the season, the Mustangs turned their season around going 6-6 since May 6th. Mora comes into the playoffs winning three of their last five games. The Mustangs fell to the Dragons in the opening round 6-1.
Section 7AAA
2-North Branch 13-7 (Section 7AAA 7-2) (Mississippi 8 7-7) 103.8 14th
The Vikings ended the regular season with a record of 13-7 including a tremendous 7-2 record within the conference. During the season, North Branch had two different four game win streaks. North Branch fell to Duluth Denfeld 14-2. And will now play Cloquet on Thursday.
4-Princeton 11-8 (Section 7AAA 2-4) (Mississippi 8 7-7) 87.9 24th
The Tigers will host a playoff game thanks to a great start to the season. Princeton had a five game win streak from the middle of April until May 4th. They pushed past Hermantown 5-2 and now play Chisago Lakes Thursday.
Section 7AAAA
8-Cambridge-Isanti 5-15 (Section 7AAAA 0-2) (Mississippi 8 4-10) 60.8 61st
Cambridge-Isanti will start their playoffs on Wednesday as they will travel to Andover to face off against the first seeded Huskies at 4:30. The Bluejackets come into the postseason hot, winning two of their last four games.
