In a battle of old rivals, Milaca hosted Mora in a section matchup on Monday night. Mora came in 11-4 and Milaca at 10-4. Milaca started hot taking a 45-13 lead at one point. Madison and Annabelle Gothmann led the pace throughout that first half.  Towards the last few minutes of the first half, however, Mora found their footing. Rush City hosted Milaca on Friday night. These two teams run fairly similar, both play physical defense and more of a patient offense. This is exactly what we seen in the 1st half. Both teams tried to work the ball inside and find the easier layups but the defenses were stingy and there was not alot of room to even pass the ball.

Milaca hosted Pine City on Tuesday night. Both of these teams came in looking to improve their section records, plus a win improves their QRF, which could go a long way come playoff time. Once the game began, both teams took some time to settle in.

The Milaca boys traveled to Hinckley on Monday. The 1st half between these two teams was a defensive battle. Neither team was able to take a lead of more than 4 points.

The Braham Bomber girls traveled to Milaca to face the Wolves in a matchup of two of the top-tiered teams in our area on Tuesday night. Both teams came into the night at 5-2 while playing very difficult schedules. Milaca threw the first punch starting the game on a 13-2 run. The Milaca Boys traveled to Pine City on Monday night. Both teams came in searching for the first section win of the season. The Wolves came out and set the pace early on, offensively they moved the ball around and shot quick, defensively it was full court press trying to force Pine City to break it. The Wolves were out to an early 9-0 lead. But the Dragons were able to correct things on the fly.

Mora and Milaca faced off in the newest edition of the highway 23 rivalry between the Mustangs and Wolves. Old foes who faced off in the Rum River and Granite Ridge Conferences over the years. Starting last season this battle became a non-conference and non-section matchup.  This game started out slowly. Both teams were struggling to get anything going offensively.
