Mike McDonald's crew was looking for the first conference win of the season, but it wasn't going to be easy against a rival.
The Bluejackets applied the pressure early against the Saints, on offense they scored early and often, on defense they played full court and it forced a plethora of turnovers.

Milaca Wins Section Game on the Road Over Pine City
The Milaca Boys traveled to Pine City on Monday night.
Both teams came in searching for the first section win of the season.
The Wolves came out and set the pace early on, offensively they moved the ball around and shot quick, defensively it was full court press trying to force Pine City to break it. The Wolves were out to an early 9-0 lead. But the Dragons were able to correct things on the fly.

North Branch hosted Chisago Lakes on Thursday night for a double header.
The boys teams would take the court first. The Vikings came in having yet to win a game, but an offense that was high flying. The Wildcats had already won a game on the year, and while their offense didn't average as monat point, their defense was allowing less than the Vikings.

Mustangs top Wolves in Battle of Old Rivals
Mora and Milaca faced off in the newest edition of the highway 23 rivalry between the Mustangs and Wolves. Old foes who faced off in the Rum River and Granite Ridge Conferences over the years. Mustangs Earn Season Opening Win
The Mora Mustangs and Rush City Tigers faced off on Tuesday night in both of their season openers. Coming off of a 26-2 season last year, the Mustangs are hoping to build off of the success and improve in this 2025-2026 campaign. Really good guard play by Mora fueled their 79-29 victory over the Tigers. Caleb Evenson scored a game-high 23 points with senior Dawson Smart adding 18 of his own. Bombers Fall in Semi-Finals
A new section for the Braham Bombers volleyball squad means new opponents as well. Braham met one of those opponents in the semi-final on Tuesday night. North Branch hosted Grand Rapids on Monday night.
These two teams had played twice during the regular season, something that doesn't happen to often. The first meeting was in late August, when the Thunderhawks won the match in 5 sets. The next meeting was at a big tournament down in Burnsville, where Grand Rapids won 2-0. This time the Vikings got to host the match in a win or go home situation.
