In a battle of old rivals, Milaca hosted Mora in a section matchup on Monday night. Mora came in 11-4 and Milaca at 10-4. Milaca started hot taking a 45-13 lead at one point. Madison and Annabelle Gothmann led the pace throughout that first half.  Towards the last few minutes of the first half, however, Mora found their footing. Cambridge-Isanti took both of their basketball squads to Chisago Lakes on Tuesday night. The girls teams played first, these two met before the Christmas break, and it was a close game that the Wildcats came away with. And they got off to a good start in this game. They captured an early lead and were able to keep that lead through much of the 1st half. East Central traveled to Mora on Monday night. Both teams have a lot of youth on their squads but the youth is very talented and continues to improve as the season goes along.

Rush City hosted Milaca on Friday night. These two teams run fairly similar, both play physical defense and more of a patient offense. This is exactly what we seen in the 1st half. Both teams tried to work the ball inside and find the easier layups but the defenses were stingy and there was not alot of room to even pass the ball.

Milaca hosted Pine City on Tuesday night. Both of these teams came in looking to improve their section records, plus a win improves their QRF, which could go a long way come playoff time. Once the game began, both teams took some time to settle in.

The Milaca boys traveled to Hinckley on Monday. The 1st half between these two teams was a defensive battle. Neither team was able to take a lead of more than 4 points.

Pine City hosted Braham on Tuesday night. Both teams got off to a decent start, but Pine City was able to match the pace that the Bombers set. This allowed the Dragons to keep the game close. You could sense Pine City had found some belief in their team, understanding they could stick with any team they faced. It was a back and forth battle, but turnovers started to pile up for Pine City, which Braham was able to capitalize on.

Both Braham teams hosted Upsala on Friday afternoon. It started with the boys. Both the teams like to push the pace and score early and often.

Braham hosted Barnum on Tuesday afternoon. It's the annual battle of the Bombers, whether it's fall, winter or spring these two teams seem to play during every season. This time during Christmas break, and as the game began it seemed like the early start time along with it being in the middle of Xmas break, gave these teams some rust to knock off.

The Braham Bomber girls traveled to Milaca to face the Wolves in a matchup of two of the top-tiered teams in our area on Tuesday night.
